What a remap does to a working bakkie

Your bakkie left the factory with software written for every market the manufacturer sells into, from cold climates to poor fuel quality. That leaves room on the table. A custom remap rewrites the fuelling and boost settings for your engine and for the way you actually use the vehicle. Owners phone us because they tow, they load, they climb passes on the way to the bush, and the bakkie feels flat when it is working. We tune for drivability first, so the vehicle pulls properly under load and sits comfortably on the open road.

How it works, start to finish

Phone Chris on 083 260 8690, or leave your name and number on the form and he will call you back. He will ask what you drive, the year, the engine and whether anything has already been done to the vehicle. Then he books a time and comes to you. On the day we read the software off your ECU and save the original file before we change anything. We write the new map, load it, and drive the vehicle with you before we leave. If you ever want it back exactly as it came from the factory, the original file goes back on.

Questions

Is a remap safe for my engine?
It is safe when the map is written for your vehicle and its condition. We do not load a generic file off the internet. Chris checks the state of the vehicle first, and if there is a fault or an overdue service he will tell you to sort that out before we tune. The map works within the mechanical limits of the engine, and if your vehicle is not a good candidate we will say so.
Will it affect my warranty or motor plan?
We would rather be straight with you. Dealers can treat engine software changes as grounds to decline a claim on the engine or drivetrain. We cannot promise yours will not pick it up, and nobody honestly can. If your bakkie is still on a factory warranty or motor plan, speak to Chris before you book. The original file can be put back, but that is not a warranty guarantee.
How long does it take?
The vehicle stays where it is parked while we work, and you drive it with us before we leave. Chris will give you a realistic time when you book, once he knows the model and the engine. In most cases it is done in a single visit at your home or office, and you carry on with your day while we work in the driveway.
Can the remap be reversed?
Yes. Before we change anything we read and save the original software off your ECU. If you want the vehicle back on factory settings, for a dealer visit or because you are selling it, we load that file back on. Saving the original file is standard on every job.
Do you really come to me?
